Vehicle Overview
Vehicle: 2022 Dodge Durango
Engine and trim package can vary, but the electrical architecture for the accessory power outlets is very similar across most configurations.
The Dodge Durango is packed with electronics and multiple charging ports throughout the cabin. Between USB ports, USB-C ports, and traditional 12V outlets, there are several circuits working together to power devices throughout the vehicle.
Because these systems are spread across different fuse locations and modules, identifying the correct circuit is critical during automotive troubleshooting.
Vehicle Concern
The main symptom was straightforward:
The front 12V power outlet located near the glove box was completely inoperative.
The rear power outlet still worked normally, and the center console charging area appeared partially functional. Initially, there was also concern that the USB-C charging port near the console was not operating correctly.
This is where many people start replacing outlets or tearing apart the dash before doing proper testing.
Initial Inspection
The first step during diagnosing car problems like this is always to verify the complaint personally.
A known-good phone charger and charging cable were plugged into the front passenger-side outlet. No power was present.
Next, the rear outlet was checked and confirmed operational. The center console charging area was also inspected.
At this point, the symptoms suggested one of several possibilities:
A blown fuse
A failed power outlet socket
An open power or ground circuit
A connector issue behind the outlet
Or a module-controlled power distribution problem
Because some outlets were still operational, the suspicion initially shifted toward either a localized wiring issue or a failed outlet assembly.
Codes (If Applicable)
No diagnostic trouble codes were present related to the charging system or accessory power outlets.
That’s important to mention because many newer vehicles monitor electrical loads and can sometimes set communication or voltage-related faults when certain circuits fail.
In this case, there were no codes to assist with the diagnosis.
Diagnostic Process
This is where the real-world side of automotive troubleshooting comes into play.
Initially, fuse F104 was identified through online information as a possible fuse for the front outlet circuit. However, after checking the vehicle and comparing circuit behavior, it became clear that fuse information online was inconsistent.
That happens more often than people realize.
Manufacturers frequently revise fuse assignments depending on trim level, export configuration, optional equipment packages, or mid-year production changes. Relying blindly on internet fuse charts can send you down the wrong path quickly.
Instead of assuming the information was correct, the next step was to continue testing logically.
Fuse F93 was then inspected.
That fuse turned out to be blown.
After replacing fuse F93, the front 12V power outlet immediately returned to normal operation.
At that point, the USB-C charging port and standard USB ports near the console were also retested using known-good charging cables and a mobile device. All ports operated normally.
The repair was complete.
Key Findings
The failed component was simply a blown fuse—specifically fuse F93.
This case highlights something important that every technician eventually learns:
Never assume online fuse diagrams are accurate for every vehicle.
Even experienced technicians can be led in the wrong direction when repair information conflicts between sources. The key is to continue verifying the circuit logically rather than guessing.
This also reinforces why symptom-based diagnostics matter so much.
Because the rear outlet still worked, it initially appeared that the circuit might not be fuse-related. However, the Durango uses separate fuse protection strategies depending on outlet location and equipment configuration.
Without proper testing, someone could have easily replaced a perfectly good power outlet socket unnecessarily.
Final Diagnosis
Blown fuse F93 caused the front passenger-side 12V power outlet near the glove box to become inoperative.
Replaced fuse F93 and verified proper operation of:
Front 12V outlet
USB charging ports
USB-C charging ports
No further issues were found.
