Here is a list of tools and procedure below...

Instructions and Tool list for replacing frame bushings on a 2001 Ford Explorer Sport Trac

Tool List

 ½” Impact Wrench
 Various ½” extensions
 ½” impact sockets 15mm, 18mm, 19mm
 3/8” cordless impact
 Various 3/8” extensions and swivels
 3/8” sockets 10mm, 15mm, T50, 13mm,
 Pry bar
Large pair of channel lock type pliers
Post type hydraulic jack and several blocks of wood
 Floor jack
 Heavy duty jack stands
 12mm x 1.75 tap and tap holder
12mmx 1.75 die and die holder

Step by Step procedures
1, Jack the vehicle up with a floor jack and place the vehicle on 4 jack stands. Place the front two jack stands at the lifting points on the frame rail. Place the rear two jack stands on the rear axle. Make sure the vehicle is high enough off the ground so you can work freely underneath to access the frame bushings.
2, Remove both front seats and trim panels so you can pull up the carpet or mat to access the bolts for the frame bushings. Also remove the front bolts of the rear seats and let them swing forward to access the rear bolt for the bushings.
3, Remove the Upper air cleaner box and intake tube. Also remove battery and battery tray.
4, There will be 8 bushings all total that you will be replacing. (4 on each frame rail) Each bushing has two halves. That’s a total of 16 pieces.  If you are using the Prothane Motion Control Kit you will find that the bushings are clearly marked.  I suggest laying them all out on a work bench and putting them in order to be installed.
5, Start with the left or drivers side frame rail. We will refer to the 4 bushings on this frame rail as A,B,C, and D . “A” being the closest to the front of the vehicle and “D” being the one closest to the rear.  Same goes for the right or passenger side frame rail as well.
6, On the left or drivers side frame remove all 4 bolts that hold the body to the frame. You will access the “A” bolt through the area in which you removed the battery. “B”,”C”, and “D” position bolts will found inside the cab under the carpet or mat. The “D” bolt will be behind the storage door at the rear of the cab.
7, You may need a helper to hold the bushing hardware from underneath with a large pair of channel lock type pliers while performing step 6.
8, Once all the bolts have been removed on the left or drivers side frame rail. Place a post type jack on the left pinch weld just behind the LF tire area. Use blocks of wood to position the jack at the proper height and on the pinch weld to spread the load.
9, Use the jack to lift the body up high enough to remove all the upper halves of the bushings. This may be 2 inches or so.
10, With all the left side bushings and hardware removed, bring all of them over to a suitable work bench. Remove the old bushings from the factory hardware.
11, Use a 12mm x 1.75 tap and die to clean up all the threads on the bolts and hardware. This will make for easier installation of the new bushings.
12, Once the hardware and bolts are clean of the old lock tite place the new bushings into their respective hardware halves.
13, Back to the vehicle, Install all the new bushings and hard ware on the driver’s side. After they are in place you can lower the post jack and install the bolts through the body. Get all the bolts started by hand. You may need a helper to start the bolts while you hold the lower half of the bushing in place.  Tighten all these bolts by hand for now.
14, The left side frame rail bushings are installed. Now, move the jack over to the right side of the vehicle and repeat the same procedure to replace the bushings on the right or passenger side frame. 15, After the bushings are replaced on the right side, put lock tite on the threads of each bolt before assembly.  Tighten all 4 of the right side bolts until you see the bushings starting to swell. That means you have a little preload on the bushings. After the right side is secure, go back to the left side and remove each bolt one by one. Install Lock Tite on the threads of each bolt and tighten them as per the right side.
16, At this point the job is near completion. Reinstall the seats and trim on the inside. Reinstall the battery, battery tray, and air intake tube and you are ready for a test drive.  17, Good Luck on your project and I hope you found the instructions helpful.
